The Inspire 2 from DJI is one of the most imposing drones available today. The Inspire 1 was a huge success with the filmmakers and the Inspire 2 raises the bar higher with its sheer performance. The Inspire 2 is primarily focused for total dominance in the skies in its flight capabilities as well as its primary function of capturing Cinematic video for avid filmmakers all around the world.

The Inspire 2 features a futuristic design that is seemingly out of this world. This is definitely not a toy and it makes a bold statement with its transforming design. The carbon fiber arms provide utmost levels of rigidity in high speed flight while keeping the weight to a bare minimum. The crucial components are neatly tucked away within the main frame to provide an aero-dynamic design flow.

DJI’s Flight Autonomy system is one of the most comprehensively designed systems in the world of drones today. These are the core components that help keep the Inspire 2 flawlessly functioning at all times during flight. Obstacle sensing systems remain active during normal flights, RTH and all of the Intelligent Flight modes. Vision systems that are both forward and downward facing helps the Inspire 2 in detecting obstacles up to 30m ahead. Upward facing infrared sensors can scan obstacles 16ft (15m) above and keeps the Inspire 2 protected while being flown in enclosed spaces.

The brand new CineCore 2.0 image processing system finds its way into the Inspire 2 aerial drone. This powerful imaging system is capable of recording 5.2K videos in CinemaDNG, Apple ProRes and more unique formats. The CineCore 2.0 is seamlessly integrated within the nose of the aircraft and can work with any camera system that is connected through the dedicated gimbal system. The compatible camera systems that are currently available to be used with the Inspire 2 are the X4S and the X5S. Capable of recording 5.2K videos at 30fps or 4K videos at 60fps, they are unrivalled in their performance. The ability to record in CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes formats make for a flawless post-production process which is a quintessential part in any successful movie.

Spotlight PRO is a dynamic tracking mode that allows the pilots to capture complex and dramatic aerial imagery using complex visual tracking algorithms to lock into a subject. The two shooting modes, quick mode and composition modes have been made to master the art of the tracking process easier to deal with at all times. Spotlight PRO mode is available in all of the Intelligent flight modes that include ActiveTrack, TapFly, Waypoint and Point of Interest.

The presence of forward and downward vision systems can allow the Inspire 2 to create a real-time map of its flying environment as it flies. In the unforeseen circumstance where the system signal is lost, but the Intelligent Return to Home feature is enabled, the Inspire 2 will fly back home in its original flight path and changes to a straight line as and when it regains the required signals. The primary cameras are used to identify obstacles as far as 200m in the front of the aircraft, which allows its processing unit to safely plan a route back home.

Inspire 2 uses the latest update of DJI Lightbridge technology for an effective video transmission distance of up to 4.3mi (7km). It is capable of delivering both FullHD/HD video formats as well as the FPV view to the pilot and the camera operator. The user also has the option to choose between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz according to the operational requirements. This feature allows for greater signal stability at all times. A new wireless HD image transmission technology can send information from the master controller to the slave controller without loss of image quality. Broadcast mode helps broadcasters to use the dedicated 1080i50 and 720p60 transmission signals for a flawless broadcasting experience.

The newly designed propulsion system is one of the most powerful units ever to be used on an aerial drone. It can help propel the Inspire 2 from 0 to 50 mph in just under 4 seconds along with a top whack of 67mph (108kph). It can also descend at 9m/s and climb at 6 m/s. The input from the control sticks are precise and makes the whole process of flying the Inspire 2 into a fun filled experience.

Reliability has been taken a notch up high with the presence of key modules such as dual-IMU and dual-Barometer. The intelligent flight control system constantly communicates with the redundancy system by providing it with accurate flight data that is crucial at all times during flight. The sophisticated obstacle sensing system helps the Inspire 2 to fly safe at all times and get the job done effectively. Dual batteries provide the ample power required for a stable flight. The intelligent battery feature helps to switch between batteries in case of a battery failure as well to ensure a safe trip back home.

The newer version of the smart battery system found in the Inspire 2 helps it to achieve an overall flight time of up to 27 minutes. The battery redundancy feature helps the main controller unit to switch between batteries in case of battery failure. The self-warming battery feature built into the Inspire 2 can help keep the batteries at optimal working temperatures in the unlikely event of the aircraft being flown in -20 degree Celsius.

In conclusion, the Inspire 2 is by far one of the most impressive aerial drones that is available today. The newly launched version is not only more elegant to look at, but it takes down its competition with its sheer performance and professional levels of quality in aerial imagery. Built with state of the art materials and robust enough to fly through some of the most demanding work conditions, the Inspire 2 is already finding its way into the fabulous world of filmmakers all over the world. This is definitely not a toy to play with but if you are planning to step up your game in aerial imagery, then the Inspire 2 is the ultimate choice that needs no further introduction.
