The Chinese New Year saw the introduction of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian version. This is another variant of the already popular Phantom 4 Pro drone with minor enhancements and the much needed cosmetic changes. The prototype that was displayed at the IFA show had a magnesium and anti-fingerprint coated gimbal system that was electroplated for added protection. The units that make it out of the final production are said to have an enhanced electroplated coating. This coating however is just a cosmetic update and does not improve the performance of the drone or the gimbal system.

The obsidian matte-gray finish is surely an eye pleaser and keeps the reflections away from the drone. It complements the overall visual appeal of the Phantom 4 Pro that is a powerhouse when it comes to its sheer performance. This is purely meant for professionals with a 1-inch 20 megapixel sensor that is capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps. The twin rear vision sensors and infrared sensing systems add up to 5 ways of obstacle sensing and 4 ways of obstacle avoidance. The Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian hosts major upgrades in stability and longer flight times.
